I am a German native speaker and offer you excellent fluency and writing skills in both German and English. I can assure you that your text will be faithfully and elegantly presented in the target language.

My background as a writer and playwright in both German and English and my love for both languages, as well as my interest in books and translation, proved to be a good foundation for becoming a translator and interpreter.

I started out in Vienna as a student of German literature, drama theory and acting. In 1986 my need to broaden my horizon led me to travel to the U.S, where I have lived ever since. I made my home in the San Francisco Bay Area and continued to study theater and writing. I also discovered my interest in translation and decided to train and work as a translator. Becoming a translator turned out to be a great way to stay in touch with my native tongue and to hone my writing skills in both languages.

As a trained actor and voice-over talent I have worked as both voice talent and director on many German voice-over projects in the Bay Area. Here is a sample of one of my most recent voice-over projects, a corporate video for Qualys.

I approach each project with creativity as well as a strong commitment to delivering a meticulous translation. I enjoy translating voice-over scripts, advertising and marketing material, as well as literature and children’s books. I recently completed the German translation of 13 children’s books by the Afghan author and educator Idries Shah, who retold traditional Sufi teaching stories for children and adults in these beautifully illustrated books, published by Hoopoe Books, Los Altos, CA.
